Commander Laon Stuart Grant Hulme OBE – ‘Woodlands’ 147 Portsmouth Road – Horndean – Waterlooville – Hampshire PO8 9LQ
Laon served in the Royal Navy from 1963 to 1998 (nearly 35 years!) – from which he was given a gallantry award for efforts in the Falklands and subsequently an OBE from HM, The Queen. After leaving the navy he became the CEO / Institute Secretary of The Insurance Institute of London until 2009.
Laon’s wife Karen taught Biology and PE in Oaklands, a secondary School, is now a School Governor there and also an Adult and Youth Court JP
They will celebrate their 44th Wedding Anniversary on 3rd August and have two Daughters,
Sara-Louise – who is 42 on 9 May – trained in Guy’s London and is now a Hospital Doctor and a Consultant Paedriatician. On 12 September 2010 – she married Simon, elder son of (now) Admiral Sir John Coward DSO who was Laon’s Captain in the Falklands War.
Anna-Marie – who having attained a 2:1 Degree in Spanish from Kings College London then went to Madrid to consolidate her language skills – she subsequently qualified as a Solicitor.
She met and married David, who has qualified as a Chartered Secretary and who works in Standard Chartered Bank in London. They have two sons: Alexander who will be 4 on 19 October and William who will be 1 year old on 4 May.
