Elizabeth Margaret Anne is the third child and second daughter of Elizabeth Bathgate and Bert Sim. She was born at Mosgiel on the 7th March 1957, and lived at the nearby Hindon farm until she was three, when the family moved to back to her grandparents Outram farm for a year before moving to another farm at Brydone. Her earliest memories are of the time spent at ‘Kinfauns’ before shifting to Brydone. She remembers her first visit to the farm at Brydone, she was asked by Mrs Perkins if she would like a glass of fresh cows milk, she said yes but found it not to her taste and handed it back quick smart. She recalls her first day of school as being a bit scary, she was absorbed by all the children playing that she didn’t notice her mother going to another part of the school with the Headmistress and then panicked when she couldn’t find her mother. After a few tears she settled down and allowed her mother to leave her in the care of the teacher, she quickly made firm friends with two of the other little girls called Anne Dickson and Helen Silcock.
